That wasn’t a Bowie-esque title in case anyone was wondering, but given the amount of high exposure to one of my musical “heroes” I’ve had lately, it would, quite frankly, be no surprise!

I really enjoyed attending the preview of the V&A Retrospective with my friend Tony, and then just a couple of weeks ago, the Boy George talk on Bowie’s influence on his life.  Many friends are complaining that they’ve been Bowie’d-out, but personally I’m loving the recent resurgence in my lifelong musical companion.  He is the influencer of other personal favourites including Marc Almond, and Siouxsie Sioux both of whom I’m looking forward to see on the stage again in the next few weeks.  Marc in the form of his song cycle “Ten Plagues” performed at Wiltons Music Hall next Wednesday.  Its a story written by Mark Ravenhill and which I was lucky enough to see in preview work in progress at the Royal Court in 2009.  It met with critical acclaim in 2010 when Marc performed this piece at the Traverse Theatre as part of the Edinburgh Fringe and I’m really looking forward to seeing this story of 1665 London during the Black Plague in its rightful home at Wiltons.

Siouxsie, I’m seeing at the Royal Festival Hall as part of the Meltdown Festival, which this year is being curated by Yoko Ono.  I’ve not seen the goddess since I met her back in 2010 and prior to that at Koko as part of her first foray into solo work, as the excellent “Mantaray”  Enough for now…

Oh, by the way, welcome to my blog! 😉
